Dentures FAQs

Full and implant-supported dentures are considered permanent dental restorations. Full dentures require all of the teeth on the arch to be extracted before dentures can be placed. Implant-supported dentures require titanium implants to be surgically implanted into the gums, and dental implants are rarely removed once they have fused with the jawbone. Since partial dentures only replace a few missing teeth, you may choose to use a different dental restoration down the road, but many patients find that partial dentures are an excellent option for tooth replacement.

Dentures can stain just like natural teeth do, and drinking things like coffee and red wine can also stain dentures faster. The good news is, there are a few things you can do at home to keep your dentures bright and white. Simple homemade solutions containing baking soda, white vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide can work well, as can store-bought denture whitening products. Maintaining a comprehensive oral care routine is also an important part of keeping your restorative dentures looking as good as they did when you first received them.

Dentures might be one of the more expensive dental treatments that you’ll utilize in your lifetime, but many of our patients feel they are a worthy investment. Full, partial, and implant-supported dentures are stable, long-lasting dental restorations that can help you eat, smile, and speak with confidence. Many insurance plans will cover at least part of the cost of dentures, and we also accept payment plans through CareCredit®. Our practice offers a Dental Membership Club that provides discounts on restorative services including dentures as well.
